We celebrate the flowering ʻOʻhia Lehua, a symbol of Hawaiʻi Island arts and crafts style vase. This treasure of “raku” represents Frazier’s artistic flair and mastery of both ceramics and design. Originally from Germany and with experience in a wide range of arts, Birgitta now lives and works in the Volcano Village. Most of her work is wheel thrown, then altered by carving, cutting, or stenciling. “I enjoy the process of carving, cutting into the soft clay, or imprinting flowers or leaves. As you can see in my work, I’m inspired by my surroundings, animals, plants, the rainforest, and the colors of the lava in my raku glazes.”
