Gregg Smith

Gregg Smith

Gregg is a wood artist specializing in segmented wood turnings of bowls, vases, urns and other decorative vessels. Laminated wood turnings have been created for many years, yet few have established their trademark identity in this art form like Gregg. His use of primarily Hawaiian hardwoods such as koa, and his application of pyrography to his turned vessels have distinguished a unique style which can be seen in Gregg’s work across the State of Hawaii and beyond. In recognition of his artistry, Gregg has received numerous awards for his turnings. His articles and pictures of his work have been published in many magazines and books. He has been a demonstrator at the Utah and Honolulu woodturning symposiums as well as at several AAW club chapters. He has served as the VP and President of the Big Island Woodturners and is currently serving as the VP of the West Hawaii Woodturners and as Treasurer of the Hawaii Wood Guild in his over thirty years as a professional woodworker and turner.
