Title: | Na Ipu - Gourds |

Larger gourds were used with netted covers (po’i) and had suspensory loops or bails(haawele) to hold them together and for carrying.
The hawele were made of one continuous cord by interlacing the connecting loops; no knots were needed. This allowed easy recycling of the cordage if the gourd broke. This technique was unique in Hawai?i.
