Title: | Ipu Poho Aho - Fishing line Storage Gourd |
Medium: | Other |
SOLD |
Gourds were used to store fishing line. Line was fed into the gourd through the small neck opening. The line didn’t tangle and was easy to remove when needed. The olona cordage was very valuable as it was very time consuming to make and the fiber was hard to come by. The gourds made a creaking sound at night, which summoned the fishermen to go fishing.
