The Madge Tennent works form an intact permanent collection and are not for sale. The Tennent Art Foundation made Hawaii Preparatory Academy the custodian of the artist's work to conserve, preserve, and utilize for education in perpetuity. |
This was Madge Tennent’s first introduction of the cobalt line. This marked a turning point in the development of her distinctive style; she achieved an ethereal intensity with softer hues and blurred, iridescent forms. In these later works, whirling wisps of complementary oils fuse the figures to their floral surroundings, visualizing the resilient bonds Tennent perceived between the body and spirit of Hawai'i.
