Web description (withdrawn March 2021):
“Typical of many paintings made direct from some of the most interesting models” who sat for Madge Tennent in the 1920s, this painting’s geometric features evoke the styles of Picasso and Cézanne. A similar work, titled Hawaiian Pattern (Honolulu Academy of Arts), caused a sensation when exhibited at the Honolulu Academy in 1928; pleased critics dubbed it her “most interesting style” to date.
