Lloyd Sexton is considered among Hawai'i's premier 20th-century artists, and his paintings have become increasingly collectible and rare to acquire. We are thrilled to offer an original Sexton oil painting that reflects his range of textures and tones in the richly forested uplands of Windward ‘Oahu. The lush ridgelines of the Ko‘olau Mountains and Mount Ka‘ala in the background are prominent island landmarks and long-time favorites for painters. It is equally reminiscent of the pristine beauty of our Kohala Mountains. Lloyd Sexton has mastered the area’s verdant topography in this circa 1960 painting. He also mentored his nephew and HPA alumnus Harry Wishard ‘70, who shares Sexton’s realistic style and deep appreciation for the beauty of specific island locales.
