American (b. 1934)
James Hutchinson is recognized as one of the premier painters of Florida and the Everglades; he is the acknowledged historian of the Seminole Indians, among whom he and his wife lived for four years. It has been said that Hutchinson has done for the Seminoles what Catlin and Remington have done with the Indians of the Great West. Hutchinson has continued his work with the “Buffalo People”, including such tribes as the Black Foot, Apache, Navajo and Zuni.
Hutchinson’s works are in collections in all 50 states and in dozens of foreign countries. He has had numerous major exhibits throughout the United States.
