“KEALOHA”
Our dear friend Tootsie Weller from Waimea (who Ed has been painting for 35 years) suggested we do a photo shoot with Kawena, one of her granddaughters who has been dancing hula since age 2. Ed did this painting primarily with a palette knife, accompanied by minimal brush work … a “first” for him. He was really pleased with the end result, particularly with the detail in the lauhala mat and flowers in Kawena’s hair, due to the impasto technique which creates a color intensity due to the thickness of the paint (as opposed to a brush).
